My career plan of being an SEO specialist and copywriter comes from my childhood creative passion for understanding the colours, and logos of big brands and an impressive communicative charisma that made me easily convince my peers to act.

However, becoming a lawyer was an important aspect of this career progression and I consider myself privileged to have studied law and practised it extensively. It has made me more analytical and more detailed in my research. Law has finetuned my vocabulary and made me more creative in the way I use words.

Also, it was during my study of law at the University of Abuja, Nigeria, that I realised through further study the poor marketing condition of lawyers in Nigeria. This brought back the robust hunger for my innate love for copywriting and Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

Besides, my ability to write convincing copy brought me to self-learn and earn a LinkedIn badge in WordPress. Hence I was able to create, design and host my legal blog (legalpanic.com) with the knowledge of WordPress.

The desire to acquire more knowledge and build an international career as an SEO Specialist and Copywriter informed my decision to further my learning in this area of Marketing.

This conviction brought me to research for a school in the United Kingdom that will bring to life my dream of becoming an SEO Specialist and copywriter.

After an in-depth Study of Schools in the United Kingdom, Salford Business School came top in my research for an MSc. in Digital Marketing. The Four modules taught: Search and Social Media Marketing, Digital Marketing Analytics, Consumer Behaviour and Digital Marketing Communication all gave a clearer insight into informing my decision.

The course modules encompassed my search engine optimisation (SEO) specialist target and widened the digital marketing landscape beyond my expectations.

Has Salford Business School met my career expectations of becoming an SEO Specialist and copywriter?

Salford Business School introduced me to in-depth digital marketing analytics. This expanded my knowledge of digital analytics and web analytics.

This knowledge has now been implemented in how I build my personal blog website. I incorporated the use of Google Analytics, MOZ and SEMrush analytical tools to audit my personal portfolio and blog at techycopy.com. My broad experience with these tools enforced the implementation of SEO best practices, optimisation of the website for mobile, and understanding the importance of User Interface and Experience.

Also, I was privileged to be a part of a team of five that ran a business simulation sneakers brand for about 4 weeks led by Edumundo.com in my Digital Marketing Analytics Module, which saw us make various tough but strategic marketing decisions in an almost real-life business by selling the sneakers in a highly competitive market. Great marketing decisions were made by my team which saw my team becoming one of the best amongst over 25 teams.

More practically, the  Search and Social Media Marketing Module encouraged me to fully optimise my social media pages as an SEO specialist and copywriter using Google keyword trends and other keyword data tools to fully understand what people are searching for.

These techniques have now been fully used to optimise my LinkedIn and other social media platforms which has gotten me several engagements and allowed recruiters to message me privately more.

Largely, the module also encouraged a lot of collaboration with various industry experts and my peers from the Salford Business School and I am happy to say I have met great influencers and made greater connections with people I now call friends.

Consumer Behaviour helped in understanding the consumer journey by creating a buyer persona for various marketing projects to better forecast the buying decisions and decision-makers in a buying situation.

This puts me in a better position to know the kind of keywords that resonate with a particular buyer persona and decision-making unit as an SEO Specialist and copywriter.

Salford Business School gave me the opportunity to have full access to LinkedIn learning. A lot of research material from the Salford University library has improved my skills as an SEO Specialist and copywriter. Some of the courses taken since joining the Salford Business School include:

Apart from my studies, I am also privileged to be one of the leaders of the Salford Business School Bame Network where I currently serve as the Director of Socials. This role includes making various content to promote the Network programmes.

In this capacity, I was privileged to work with others in the leadership of the Salford Business School Bame Network to promote the “COME AS YOU ARE” event at the Salford Business School which had over 500 participants in attendance.

This project also allowed me a greater opportunity to use tools like Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere Pro to bring my creative side as a content creator, copywriter and SEO Specialist for videos. This platform allowed me to work closely with the University of Salford Business School Student Union as the network is an arm of the Union.
